Writing-Integrated Teaching (WIT) is an award-winning Arts & Science program that helps instructors and units embed discipline-specific writing instruction into undergraduate courses and programs. WIT helps instructors and units:
- Develop writing goals for students at both the course- and undergraduate program-level expectations
- Design writing assignments that support student writing development
- Incorporate writing-to-learn (low-stakes writing) into courses
- Mentor and train course TAs to teach undergraduate writing
If you would like to learn more about the WIT program and discuss ways to include writing instruction into your course(s) and/or academic program, contact Dr. Andrea L. Williams, Associate Professor, Teaching Stream and WIT Director.
Units can apply for funding to incorporate writing instruction into their course and/or academic program. WIT funds can go to support the hiring of a Lead Writing TA (LWTA) and hours for course TAs to support writing through feedback on writing assignments, integrating writing instruction into tutorials, labs, and office hours.
