The Faculty of Arts & Science Teaching & Learning Portfolio has two main committees: the Committee on Teaching & Learning (CTL) and the Teaching & Learning Initiatives Funding Committee (TLIFC).
Committee on Teaching & Learning (CTL)
CTL advises on teaching and learning strategic priorities, policies, practices and resources, provides feedback and direction on ongoing initiatives (such as ATLAS) and generally serves as a first stop for consultation and input on the Faculty of Arts & Science teaching mission and initiatives. In providing broad oversight on these issues, this committee reflects a commitment to exemplary teaching and the centrality of students’ learning experiences.
Teaching & Learning Initiatives Funding Committee (TLIFC)
The TLIF committee considers and recommends proposals for funding for a number of initiatives, such as the Learning and Education Advancement Fund (LEAF) and Advancing Teaching & Learning in Arts and Science (ATLAS) fund. The committee is responsible for reviewing each proposal submission and providing the Dean with recommendations on the approval and funding of proposed initiatives based on their alignment with the mandate of the specific initiative and the Faculty of Arts & Science overall goals and priorities. As such, the committee fosters pedagogical innovation and ongoing curriculum renewal in support of the Faculty’s commitment to teaching excellence and high-quality student learning experience.
